The meaning of Communication is the response we get.
Ever been frustrated asking someone to complete a task, and you have spoken to them numerous times and wondered why they just don’t get it or seem to be prioritising it?
It could be that instead of being asked verbally their preference is to be shown. They other person maybe thinking i would prefer it if they just showed me what they wanted.
Or have you written numerous emails asking someone to do something and again been frustrated at the response. It could be the person your emailing would just prefer to be spoken too. The other person could just be wondering why you haven’t just picked up the phone and asked them.
So here you have 2 examples of communication that are mismatched in terms of rapport and both parties are probably frustrated with each other (they don’t get it, they just don’t understand) when in fact both parties probably want the same outcome but the communication styles are misunderstood.
The reason we communicate in these different ways is we process our surroundings through our senses and have a primary preference i.e eyes, ears, touch
So wouldn’t it be good to know your own communication preference and that of people you interact with.
